Last month, Katja Ridderbusch, an accomplished journalist and foreign correspondent for the German newspaper “Die Welt”, a noted author and international media consultant, interviewed me about the topic of physician burnout.

Over the last 10 years, I have been watching the statistics about physician burnout keenly and I’ve coached many physicians out of burnout or prevented them from experiencing burnout. Unfortunately, the way the healthcare system is set up these days does not care or cares very little about the well-being and optimal performance of physicians. Rather than preventing physician burnout and encouraging physicians to take better care of themselves, most healthcare organizations only look for support when patient care or patient quality are negatively impacted.

Anyway, Katja interviewed me for an article in the German newspaper “Die Welt” to shine a light on physician burnout in the U.S. You can read the German version on their website and the English translation on Katja’s blog.
