For the longest time, I had “legit” reasons and time-related excuses to skip working out. To put a stop on that I signed up for a Tough Mudder event, which is a 10.3 mile run with 21 different muddy, mental, and strength related challenges. Committing to the event and telling friends about it compelled me to a workout routine; suddenly I had the time that I supposedly didn’t have before. After a couple of weeks, I noticed its benefits and I started to look forward to my workouts. Last Saturday I completed the course with pride.
What are you procrastinating, postponing, making excuses for because you say to yourself you don’t have the time, energy or motivation? What price are you paying for not doing it?
Time never comes back. There is always more work that can be or needs to be done; don’t make it your center. Make time for what matters to you. Pick an event, schedule the vacation, visit family – make a plan, tell a friend about it, ask them to be your accountability partner or do it together.
Don’t wait until you get caught up with this task or get that task done. Life doesn’t wait. Make time for the things that matter to you. If you want an accountability partner, I’m here for you.
P.S. I stick to my workout routine now. Next, I plan to hike through the Austrian Alps at the end of August; there are no reasons for me to stop.
